As part of a tradition in the construction world, the 'topping off' commemorates the final piece of the structural steel being erected onto the building to complete the structure.

The BPEA is given to suppliers who achieve the high performance standards necessary to meet customer expectations and remain competitive in the global economy.“

Usually, it’s hard to get excited to go to school on Saturday mornings. But for many high school students in the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), the chance to get tuition-free college credit while expanding their minds has spurred them to sit attentively in class over the course of several weekends this past year.

In October, CSULB’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program secured the distinguished gift of a working ambulance. A generous donation from the former owners of Gerber Ambulance Company, Robert and Rebecca Gerber, the ambulance will be used to stage scenarios where students can practice and learn hands-on.

Every year, CSULB Saturday and Accelerated MBA (SMBA, AMBA) students embark on an International Business Experience advanced study course. For one week, students witness a foreign country’s business economy firsthand through a range of local company visits and cultural experiences. For 2015, SMBA students jetted off to Milan, Italy, while AMBA students headed south to Santiago, Chile.

Summer 2014 commenced the launch of Criminal Justice course CRJU 490/690: The Misuse and Abuse of Forensic Science Investigations. Dubbed CSI: Italy, the course took 12 students on a short-term study abroad adventure through Italy exploring CSI and forensic criminal investigations with a focus on the real life, controversial case of Amanda Knox.
