Degree Completion Program

The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (BALA) degree completion program is designed to provide working adults, who have completed 78 baccalaureate level course units, with a customized schedule and curriculum that are more conducive to their lives, as well as offer a supportive environment to facilitate their college education.

Designed in a cohort format, the program provides opportunities for networking and assists students in acquiring skills and knowledge in communication, critical thinking, language and literature, analytical and scientific reasoning, quantitative analysis, and philosophical foundations. Drawing on courses from the College of Liberal Arts, the BALA degree is broad enough to support a wide variety of transferable units, as well as students with wide-ranging career interests.

This program is primarily geared toward serving the needs of working professionals who are re-entering education. Classes will be taught at the CSULB campus on Wednesday evenings and alternate Saturdays.

Tuition
  • Cost per unit: $426
  • $1278 per 3-unit course
  • Total units required: 42 units

Note:

Fees include: Student ID card, library usage, admission to home games, predetermined curriculum, and priority registration for courses.

How to Apply:

Submit an application:
  • Apply online at: CSU mentor. There is a $55 application fee payable by credit card.
  • Request official transcripts from all previous schools. Have schools send transcripts directly to CSULB’s Enrollment Services no later than May 15, 2013. Please indicate on the admissions application that you are applying to the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts Degree Completion Program (BALA).
  • Once your application has been successfully reviewed by CSULB's Enrollment Services, a representative from the BALA program will contact you regarding submitting your essay to the BALA program director.
  • The BALA program director will make the final determination regarding your acceptance into the program.
