Engineering and Architectural AutoCAD
Certificate Program

How Do I Complete the Certificate?

  • Complete all three modules (six class meetings).
  • Complete all assignments including at least one professional-level drawing.
  • No make-up classes are available.

4.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be provided upon request as a permanent record of one's attendance, if requested by the last class meeting.

AutoCAD and Revit courses will be taught by one of the Engineering & Architectural Design Programs Teaching Team.

Dana Clark, CAD Specialist with more than 20 years of extensive experience in the utilization of CAD for architectural, engineering and mechanical drawings.
David Landells, lecturer, CSULB Design Department, has more than 15 years of experience utilizing AutoCAD for both design visualization and construction documents in the field of Architecture.

Introduction to AutoCAD

This module introduces you to computer-aided drafting. You will learn AutoCAD 2010 software commands and plotting methods.

Topics Include:

  • Basics of AutoCAD 2010
  • Techniques of computer-aided drafting
  • Input and output methods
  • Setup, drawing, editing, and displaying drawings
  • Coordinate entry
  • Lines, grids, polylines, layers, text, scales, and units
  • Hatching

Intermediate AutoCAD

Now that you understand the basics of AutoCAD, take this opportunity to improve your skills and enhance your productivity. This module reviews the basics and assists you in developing new skills that will enable you to increase your effectiveness with AutoCAD.

Topics Include:

  • Blocks
  • Various enhanced techniques of two-dimensional drawing using AutoCAD
  • Intermediate drawing, editing, and dynamic display
  • Intermediate plotting

Architectural AutoCAD

In this module, you will learn the specifics of applying AutoCAD 2010 to architectural and engineering design. This module will also enable engineers, architects, and interior designers to make the transition from traditional drawing and design techniques to CAD.

Topics Include:

  • Making your drawings more precise
  • Paper and model space
  • Creating templates

Note

Class size is limited. Please enroll early. After the first class meeting, you will need to have access to AutoCAD to work on your assignments. More information, including how to purchase the student version at a discount, will be provided at the first class. There is no access to the lab between class meetings.
