    Q: Do I have to be admitted to the University to take non-credit courses?

    A: No, our professional development (non-credit) courses are specifically designed for working adults, with convenient scheduling and registration (no admission to CSULB required).

    Q: Can I take a University credit course if I'm not enrolled at CSULB?

    A: Yes, Open University provides an opportunity for those people who are not currently admitted to and/or registered at CSULB to enroll in most courses offered by the regular university. CSULB's Open University program allows enrollment in regular university credit classes on a 'space available' basis, subject to the approval of the instructor and the department chair concerned. The registration process is easy and admission to the university is not required.     Q: Can I get a grade or university credit for professional development courses?

    A: Grades or university credit are not offered for professional development (non-credit) courses, but Continuing Education Units (CEU) will be provided for some professional development programs. CEUs are awarded by the American Council on Education and are a permanent record of your attendance. CEUs can enhance your resume and provide another opportunity to showcase your commitment to your professional development. CEUs are provided upon request of the student.

    Q: When do courses start?

    A: They are all scheduled to start at different dates and times, depending on the length of the program. 

    Q: Do you have evening and weekend courses?

    A: Yes, we try to accommodate the busy schedules of working adults, so most of our programs are offered in the evenings and on weekends.

    Q: How do I know which course to take?

    A: On most of our professional development program descriptions, we have a “Who Should Attend” section, along with “You Will Learn.” Take a look at the program you're interested in to see if those descriptions match with your profile and educational goals. If you still have questions, contact our Student Services Center at (800) 963-2250.

    Q: How do I get reimbursed from my employer?

    A: Before you enroll, make sure the program you wish to take is indeed covered by your company’s tuition reimbursement program. (At Boeing, check with your “Learning Together Program” coordinator.) Some programs may not be covered.

    Q: What if the course cancels?

    A: You have the option of receiving a refund or transferring your fees to another program.
