Advanced Manufacturing Technology Certificate
Certificate Program

Prerequisite: Working knowledge of manufacturing engineering technology.

Located in the heart of the aerospace industry, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at CSULB has had a long-standing working relationship with major aerospace companies such as Boeing. Part of this relationship has been providing educational opportunities to aerospace employees. This program was developed in collaboration with The Boeing Company and is designed to provide you with the basic skills required of an industrial or manufacturing engineering technologist. The program is open to all aerospace manufacturing employees.

Required Courses:

The program consists of 7 courses, 19 semester units. The following seven courses are required:

  • Management of Manufacturing Operations (3 units)
  • Production Methods and Process Improvement (3 units)
  • Manufacturing tooling technology course (3 units)
  • Manufacturing project engineering course (3 unit)
  • Manufacturing accounting and finance course (3 units)
  • Unigraphics/Catia course (3 units)
  • Lab class (1 unit)

  • Instructors are high level, experienced professionals from the industry, with knowledge of the latest issues facing manufacturers
  • You do not need to apply to the University to participate in the program and receive a certificate of completion
  • Cost-effective partnership for Boeing employees under the Boeing Educational Alliance. The company will be billed directly, resulting in no out-of-pocket cost to Boeing employees
  • The program is generally covered by company educational tuition reimbursement programs
  • You can typically finish the program as part of a "learning team," completing classes with the same individuals, creating a supportive learning network
  • You can complete all the courses to receive a certificate of completion or take individual "stand-alone" courses.

  • Industrial engineers and manufacturing professionals with a desire to pursue development consistent with corporate and industry requirements
  • Manufacturing managers or executives who wish to broaden their technical understanding of manufacturing engineering
  • Other professionals with interest in any of the specific courses such as systems engineering, quality, etc.

You Will Learn:

  • Tooling and production methods
  • Advanced manufacturing processes
  • Fundamentals of project management, accounting, and finance
  • Computer aided design using Unigraphics/ Catia

How Do I Complete the Certificate?

  • Complete all required courses, 19 semester units.

You will Receive:

  • A certificate of completion.
  • College credit for courses taken, which can be transferred to other academic programs.
