The TOEFL waiver is granted after successful completion of certain levels of the Intensive English Program. Students are placed into one of the six levels of the program after taking the ALI Placement Test during new student orientation.
Successful completion of Level 4 of the American Language Institute Intensive English Program fulfills English language admission requirements for CSULB undergraduate programs requiring a TOEFL score of 173 on the computerized test, 61 on the internet based test(or 500 on the pencil and paper test).
Successful completion of Level 6 of the American Language Institute Intensive English Program fulfills English language admission requirements for CSULB graduate programs requiring a TOEFL score of 213 on the computerized test, 80 on the internet based test (or 550 on the pencil and paper test).
